Three Weeks of Bad Luck

I’m three weeks into bad luck of bicycle riding. Haven’t had a run like this in a while. But this is how it goes. It all happened on the way home.

First week: I’m riding from Orinda and decide to hit Appian Way to get home. Not my usual way home. In El Sobrante I make a right turn onto Appian Way and my bicycle is bouncy. I know that feeling, real tire flat. Got a nail in the tire.

Second Week: I’m on Gerrard Ave and near Peres school I hit the entrance to connect to the trail to head to Point Pinole and don’t know what happened. Next thing I know I’m on the ground. Glad I had my helmet on because my head made contact with concrete. I have blood running down my nose, my right knee lost skin and a nice cut on my right ankle. Haven’t crashed like this in years.

Third week: Coming back from Orinda. Decided to hit Appian Way and when I get past Valley View Road and my front tire has a flat. Maybe I should forget about the Appian Way route home. San Pablo Dam Road really needs a good cleaning.

Maybe the bike gods are trying to tell me to stay off the bicycle. Probably won’t happen, but it is in the back of my mind and the fear of riding home.

Always being passed. I like dark photos.

Hopefully my run of bad luck is over. My bicycle rides is how I relax.

Mellow Bicycle Rides

Haven’t been doing any crazy rides. Doesn’t help that it has been foggy, windy and cold. What a crazy start to summer. So just taking it easy.

Pictures shot with a 2005 Pentax Optio 60 6 megapixels. They came out pretty good.

Richmond has redesigned the bicycle path on the Richmond Pkwy. As of now the homeless encampment is gone. If Richmond brings back the homeless encampment at least bicyclist don’t have to ride through it.

A lot of my bicycle rides have turned into photo therapy. I have too many film and digital cameras, but I enjoy shooting with them. I will look at a camera and think I haven’t shot with this for a while. So off on the bicycle to take pictures.

As long as I’m on my bicycle it is a good day.
