Hercules Bay Trail Bike Ride

A bike ride along the new paved bike/walk path in Hercules along the water. It is great that I don’t have to take a dirt trail anymore. On rainy days I had to take the streets and a climb. Now it is flat.

For most of the month of February it has been dry. Now that the month is ending the rain has showed up. Not a fan of riding in the rain. But sometimes I can ride between the rain. If I do catch the rain I hope it is more of a sprinkle.

Nothing better than pedaling the stress off after a day of work.

Saturday Bike Ride

I have a Polaroid XS 100 video camera. I have had it for a few years. It is kind of like a GoPro. I haven’t used it much. Not big on making videos. But Saturday I attached it to my handle bars and did a short video on my ride along 580. Maybe I will use it more.

I stopped by Barnes and Noble for a white mocha and an almond croissant. Also did a little reading. Always a nice break. Get there early and can get a seat. Don’t know what summer is going to be like. My places to break at get crowded during the summer.

Where the Richmond ferry is going to be. Already starting some work. Can’t wait for the ferry to get up and running. Probably be a fun ride into San Francisco. A lot more room.

Richmond police boats. Seen them out in the water a few times.

View of San Francisco. I really took the picture because of the clouds.

Helicopter flying around. Wonder what they are looking for or just some sightseeing. Never know what is going on.

Having a break before heading home. Added a safety triangle to the bike. Can see the polaroid XS 100 video camera on the handlebar.

I think it is about time for some time off so I can get more riding in. Not this week since rain is in the forecast

Zorki 4 Camera Photos

Some pictures taken with my Zorki 4 film camera. They came out pretty good.

I had three that didn’t fully come out. I thought I had a couple of double exposures because of a problem with the rewinding and hitting the shutter button which snapped a picture.

Happy with the results of the Zorki 4 that was made in the USSR in 1967.

Riding to Vallejo

Heading over the Carquinez bridge on my way to Vallejo. Going a different route. More hills today. I have to keep my legs hill ready. Still hate hills

There was a farmers market. Nice size.

Kind of sucked that there wasn’t any bike racks to lock up the bike. I would have thought that there would have been some. Seems like good bike riding around the area.

Finished the bike/walk path in Hercules along the bay.

Before the paved bike/walk path in Hercules I would have to take the dirt trail. Use to suck when it was muddy.

This is the view from Pinole Shores of the new bike/walk path being built in Pinole that will take me to Bayfront Park. Finished date is June 2018. Can’t wait because I could ride from Pinole Shores all the way to Hercules and the best thing is I can avoid San Pablo Ave.

A view of the bike/walk path from Bayfront park.

The final rest and enjoy some reading time before I pedal home.

It was a beautiful day for a bike ride. The weather was perfect and I enjoyed the views along the way. This is the way to spend a Saturday.

Bike Ride Thoughts

I like old buildings. If I like the building I try to get a picture because who knows when they will come down to make room for some soulless building.

I decided to go to the Albany Library and catch up on my magazine reading. They do have a nice selection. Always good to get there early while it is still quiet.

The weather is spring like. I rather have it cloudy and cool but I have no control over the weather.

Decided to take a break near the Craneway building in Richmond. Watched the sailboats going out to the bay and to enjoy a snack.

Cities make bike lanes and then when I go to use them there is broken glass in them. Then I got to ride in the car lane. I’m getting to the point that glass bottles should be illegal.

Then there are the cracks and potholes in the bike lanes. Sometimes it feels like riding on an obstacle course.

Stop in Starbucks for a final caffeine kick and do a little reading for the last break before I head home.

I need to start riding some hills. I hate hills but I need to keep my legs hill ready. Still suck on hills. Maybe next Saturday.
